Death of Serviceman

Private (PTE) Foo Wei Rong Joe, a Full-time National Serviceman from 4th Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment, collapsed in Lim Chu Kang Camp at 6.05 am this morning while doing chin-ups. The chin-ups, as well as some push-ups which he had completed earlier, were part of the unit's daily basic exercise routine. He was given immediate medical attention and evacuated to Tengah Medical Centre by 6.40am, where the doctors tried to resuscitate him. PTE Foo was sent to National University Hospital at 7.15 am. The SAF doctor and medic continued their attempts to resuscitate him en route to the hospital, and he arrived at 7.45am. PTE Foo was pronounced dead at 8.28am.

MINDEF and the SAF extend their deepest condolences to the family of the late PTE Foo, and will assist the family in their time of grief. MINDEF is investigating the incident.

Sad Singaporean life.

Note: I'm forced to do guard duty despite my 3 months of heavy load excuse due to a medical history of back problem. The weight of the LBV and rifle will kill my back soon.
And what's more, it's a freaking public holiday.

It was a great 4 days of rest.

There's so much random noise in my head now; especially that of the speeding F1 car. Oh my, I've never thought that F1 racing would be such a cool thing and I actually thoroughly enjoyed watching the cars dash through the circuits- be it live (I went for the qualifying rounds on Sat night) or on the television screen.

You can actually feel the adrenaline rush of the whole scene and what pulls you even closer is the thought that this whole fanfare is happening right in the heart of Singapore. Yes, Singapore and it's caged up arena just for the game. This is one experience I'll never forget.

Then the days passed

and reality kicks in=

I'm really looking forward to this.

The spoof-comedies (some including Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans, Superhero movie and the latest Disaster movie) really lost the edge created by the original spoof-comedy brilliance Scary movie 1,2,3,4 which of course stars Anna Faris and the whole gang.

House Bunny isn't a spoof-comedy but my point is, it stars Anna Faris. Yeah, she's one hell of a comedienne.

This is pretty frustrating!

My bed frame was infested with white ants and the whole frame broke into half literally after the buggers bit into it. I pushed the frame backwards and the sight wasn't pretty. My wall had really ugly brown patches and some of the paint peeled off too. Sigh.

That's the big problem with landed houses. It's on the ground and so many different visitors will pay homage even though they are uninvited! First it was rats, now it's the damn white ants. My door frame is still hanging onto it's pathetic state and I think it's gonna fall off soon. Holes everywhere.

I really hope my parents would call the pest control folks to come do up my house soon cos I really cannot stand the sight of things. But then again, it's understandable since this house is more than a decade old and everything needs maintenance at some point in time. Just that mine's pretty major.

There, the MSET (Maintenance Skills Enhancement Training) course is coming to an end tomorrow after 2 weeks of, enjoyment I must say. Anything that allows me to be away from the company line is enjoyment to me. The days passed too quickly and all I can remember were fleeting images of what actual work we did besides the long period of breaks in between.

Oh oh, I did aced the theory tests though- just a side note in case you thought I was wasting my time.

The only thing that begets my utter disgust would be certain people. Certain few that comes in brown. Yeah, I cannot say the word out because I'm sure the government would be scanning blogs for racist comments. Let's just say, they were being 'doggish and bastardly'. Yes, for once I seriously felt like taking one of the wheel chokes off the 5-tonner and hitting them right into the skull. My goodness, what violent thoughts I have! Nevermind, one more day and it'll all be over.

The world is getting darker with each passing day.

You get to read about the wars, epidemics, natural disasters all around and how people get selfish and evil (click here) and get a keen sense that Singapore will always be immune to such condemnation.

But no, Singapore, as small as it is, would be most vulnerable if anyone/anything actually hates it.

I read about the article on how expert says Singapore is not completely immune from Tsunamis and I got a slight cold tingle down my spine. I don't know why but somehow I did.

It'll no longer be the safe sunny island forever and we'd better be prepared for the worst.

This sounds like some doomsday message.

We'd better start looking for God because only He can save our souls from whatever.

Change is the only constant. Resisting it is stupidity in it's highest degree.

Nonetheless, let us all laugh till our heart's content before dying.

My cash got stolen twice in a row and the second time included my Ipod Classic.

I'm beginning to wonder whether it's because the thief's damn smart or that I'm becoming denser by the day for such a bizarreness. It's atrocious.

I remembered how my stomach cringed when I realised my wallet was emptied of the dollar notes I used to carry. Thinking that my eyes may be playing tricks on me, I began fishing for my Ipod within my bag and to my horror it wasn't found. Nothing.

That's life when you get a little careless with your belongings and how people begin to take at every opportunity the moment to seize everything. Pissed.

Aw well, what is one supposed to do?

Get a new one lor. Yes, in my hand a new Ipod Classic 120gb.

The new music on the right sidebar of this blog really gives a tangerine feeling doesn't it?

I love it. In case you're wondering, it's actually the song used in the new Ipod Nano advertisement. These Apple people always source out the nicest music for their ads.

I spent like almost every penny of my modest pay. Ah,

birthday presents, cards, wrappers and whatnot. Surely it's time to raise amount of the paycheck aye SAF?

Well, I got myself a new movie poster. Remember the dark knight one I was talking about many entries back? Yeah, I finally got it. It's a really pretty sight. Limited edition man.

I cannot wait for this coming weekend also cos it would be the time I present my oh-so-awesome gift to Charleston. Haha.. I just love giving birthday gifts [sheez, don't be upset if I didn't get you anything for your birthday cos sometimes the wallet's really nothing but vacuum]

The last 5 days have been the most enjoyable for the longest time.

I guess birthdays does make a big difference-maybe it's psychological-but does it matter?

As long as everyone's smiling.

I'll be back in army in a couple of hours' time and I really dislike it.

Oh, the day will come soon enough.

For now, I'll clasp my hands and wait-patiently.
