One word breaks the code of silence...
Monday, May 23, 2005

I spent my day with Sean, Zhixiang, Dexter, Fifi, Felicia, Roslyn at Noel's house
watching 'Saving Private Ryan' together...in the dark. Apparently, the lights in the hall couldn't be switched on.We ordered 2 large pan pizzas subsequently...Big delicious triangular dough pieces splattered on with colourful ingredients. Those heavenly things did not fill my stomach entirely though cos it was shared among 7 people. =P

I'm seriously in need of cash, trying to scrimp and save on everything for now.
It's a pity that I didn't look for a job during the whole break. Now, it has dawned on me that I could have at least made some cash to pay my dues then. Well, 'shoulda, woulda, coulda' are the last words of a fool. I'll wisen up.

Sometimes I cringe at how some people trottle through life. Living each day as it comes. There's gotta be more to life than chasing down every temporary high to satisfy you. The answer is God and you can trust me on that. Your destiny awaits. Movies after movies, depression after depression will only lead u back to square one... that is if you understand what I mean. Move on in life. Get a life then, if you don't already have one. haha..

Don't be driven by the madness from the depths below.

Running... still pressing on.
Sunday, May 22, 2005

It was raining for most parts of today and it really got the whole cool atmosphere around. Simply wonderful. Wendy and Winifred came to my house at 3 plus. They are the earliest two. Well you see, my mum offered to cook a lot of food and asked me to call my friends down to which I was expecting about 10 people.
Wendy, Winifred and I took my dog,Butch for a walk.Apparently the dog leash came out twice and Wendy successfully managed to fix it without being bitten. haha.. brave girl. We popped by Eugene's house to invite him over my house. Pity thing was that he went for tuition and only could come to my house at 730pm.

Noel and Zhixiang came not long after and the couple of us (Winifred, Noel, Zhixiang, me, Wendy and her two friends) tucked in to our food.We had spagehetti, curry chicken, sausages and much more.
Daniel arrived at around 4 plus but had to leave after the meal because he had something on at home.
Soon after,Sean made his way here at around 520pm in a blue sweater, perfect outfit for a wet day. The remaining people(Roslyn, Qingxiang, Dexter,Jackson) reached Yio Chu Kang mrt station at around 7plus. Sean and Eugene tagged along with me in my mum's car while we went to fetch them. Sean, Eugene and me were to buy back two tubs of ice cream for the other people cos we were craving for that cold heaven.

My mum drove the whole group to bullion park, the condominium estate while a few of us trottled down to the convenience shop to get the ice cream. Along the way, we caught a small little bird which surprisingly did not fly away. We got back to the house in a jiffy and it wasn't long before the almost the whole house was fascinated by the winged creature. Haha... Apparently it pooped on many hands several times. I let it go soon after the novelty wore out. Talk about love for animals! haha..

We all had our little mini programs after dinner and ice cream (btw, the ice cream was mouth-watering). Some had their eyes peeled to the television while playing my PS, some were chit chatting, some were playing with my computer, some were playing with my hamster and laughing at their jokes. I brought wendy's friends to the backyard to take a peek at my notorious 'farm'. haha..

I brought both my guitar and bass downstairs for Zhixiang, Dexter and Noel to have fun. haha..You should have heard the kind of songs they came out with.. absolutely hilarious. The whole hustle and bustle really brought life and energy to my house. I loved it. =)

I also remember wrestling with Sean,Qing xiang and Eugene. I wanted to give sean my 'cacoon formation stun'.. haha... goodness, it was all so fun. Jumping and climbing each other's heads here and there like monkeys.

Time passed by so quickly when we were having so much fun...many left for home one by one.
The last batch to go were sean, dexter, zhixiang and noel. Apparently they were engrossed in my PS game WORMS! hahaa... they left at around 1220pm.

Li xing couldn't make it in the end because he had worship practice which ended late. Our VIP guest Jevon could not make it too because of his soccer training... ahh! u peanut, u should've come.. it was so fun.
It was a long and enjoyable day... being a wet one made it better.
I'm gonna sleep now.
Looking forward to many more days like these.

I caught the movie 'Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith' yesterday. Even though I'm not a fan of this particular genre, I was still much captivated and awed by the many marvellous going-ons in the movie. George Lucas has truly live up to his name-once again. Being the last installment and also the supposedly best one, this whole movie got me looking at star wars in a different light. It's no wonder why some people are totally mad about it.

The controversial crude emancipations (Faces and bodies to die for... or is it?)
Thursday, May 19, 2005

The Buzz
Well, looks like Christy Chung has decided to walk down the same lane Mariah did not too long ago, which revived her bad career. Affectionately known as the 'emancipation' process, Christy Chung has made yet another shocking move to remodel her entire face and also renamed herself as 'Agnes' which apparently means 'beauty outspoken'. Can she beat King of 'face-remodelling', Micheal Jackson flat like his nose? Can she dethrone Paris hilton and emerge as the next socialite queen?
Can she truly emancipate?

Glossary Emancipate : e·man·ci·pate ( P ) Pronunciation Key (-mns-pt)tr.v. e·man·ci·pat·ed, e·man·ci·pat·ing, e·man·ci·pates
To free from bondage, oppression, or restraint; liberate.

Before

After

vindicated.

Now that's not all. Recent newspaper articles have also promised shocking advertisements on how certain women have found their beauty in a short period. Such articles only prove to be too much for the eyes of innocent readers.

Newly appointed ambassador of Marie France bodyline,Irene Ang have made appearances on such covers. The local comedienne who once had a flabby tummy seemed to have lost it through the months. Local newspaper cites her emancipation process.

Watch out, PCKRosie's got a new waist
It took seven years on sitcom Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd for Rosie Phua to finally rub off on Irene Ang.
Like Rosie, who has a penchant for slimming wraps, Irene has succuumbed to the wonders of slimming machines.
The actress, who's in her 30s, was unveiled as the new local Marie France spokesman at a press lunch on Tuesday.
Appearing in a low-cut brown dress, the newly svelte Irene claimed she lost 6.5kg in just one month.
She was 70kg when she started treatment at Marie France, and is hoping to reach her target weight of 58kg.
The multi-tasker, who juggles acting, hosting, running a bar and her own entertainment production company, Fly Entertainment, said that her heavy workload made it difficult for her to find time to exercise, and she found herself piling on the kilos late last year.
She also felt sluggish and got tired easily.
'I found myself struggling with my laptop just to climb the stairs to my office on the third storey,' she said.
Marie France then came along and offered her help.
Ms Aileen Chua, regional marketing director of Global Beauty International, which runs Marie France, said that they chose Irene for her personality, and because she is a 'capable, independent woman'.
Irene's PCK colleagues have yet to see her new figure though.
Irene said: 'I had to keep it a secret until today. Only Gurmit knows because he's my 'husband' mah. I didn't want him to get too shocked when he sees me.'
She has also not informed her PCK producers about her new svelte figure, but she assures that her Rosie persona will not be affected.
'I'm sure the scriptwriters can find a different angle to fit the new Rosie Phua.
'Anyway, the makeup people can also put padding on me, that's their job!'
But does she think she's selling out her fans who identify with her 'big girl' persona?
The ex-SEA Games fencer said: 'I'm not doing this for vanity. It's about maintaining a healthy body. I've always want to be toned."

Singapore Idol finalist, Olinda Cho also had her share of beauty treatments.

Now, can all these be true? Will artificial slimming processes really dignify a woman? Or is it just another hoax stringing along with it disasterous side effects? When will this generation of women know that exercise is the best policy?

17th May 2005.
another one and a half weeks more before school reopens and the thought of it left me feeling quite energised.
Well, after a long one and half months' rest, I guess it's time to head back.
This semester will be different from the last one... well, at least I will not get into trouble with the teachers for absentism.

I have secret personal aspirations which I'm working towards these days. It really sets me going again... gone are the indolent days. Focus is the key.

I'll be having dinner with my cousins, daniel and lynette tomorrow at SAKAE SUSHI orchard... Looking forward to it.

haha.. well, I'll stop here for now.

There he goes.. with the MP3 player plugged into his ears, still dancing to the beat.

Moving on...

A blessing
Monday, May 16, 2005

Wow..God is really amazing.
It was the day when we had to submit our building fund cards.. God gave me an amount.. well, the amount may look small to others but it was a lot to me. What's more, I was saving planning to buy an MP3 player too.
However, I just took the step of faith and wrote down the amount on the card because I knew God would bless me back in return... I shall put aside the plan to buy an MP3 player for the time being.

The next day (which was today) my mum brought me to Plaza Singapura for lunch after my dental appointment. We headed to BEST denki subsequently after the meal because I told her that I wanted to take a look at something...which was the MP3 player... hehe. Now this was the thing that took me by surprise, my mother actually bought the gadget for me!
I was so happy... then I remembered the day before...the day which I gave in faith. Isn't God amazing?

You thought I would break down and die
the moment you left me in isolation
well listen up,
I'm alive
too bad there's no light at the end of the tunnel tonight
just a bridge that I've gotta burn.

so much for everything.

And so I wonder...
Saturday, May 14, 2005

Sometimes I begin to wonder...
why does God give me siblings? Childish, rowdy, irritating brats...
They just have a way to make me furious, frustrated and absolutely insane.
Whenever I feel like lifting my hands to strike them in the midst of angst, I would somehow not do it anyway.
I've grown to understand that such people like my siblings were placed in my life for a purpose.. I'm not sure what is the exact reason but the closest I can get is really sometimes for me to build up character traits like self-control.. build up love... and responsibilty.
I am somehow responsible for them in one way or the other whether my parents are around or not.
Sometimes, I scold them... or handle them 'wrongly'.. well, it is my fault... probably areas where I've got to learn and improve on... but the essence of everything is love... hence comeforth worry sometimes.

haha.. la la la.. Curse or blessing? Well, I think it's the latter. Come to think of it, I used to be like them too.. now, look who's talking. haha..

Haven't achieved that much character traits-yet, but no worries, I'm on the road to nirvana.

Curse of King tut

The tomb of the boy king Tutankhamen was opened by Howard Carter on 26 November 1922. Not pillaged since ancient times, the tomb yielded treasures that remain the most spectacular ever discovered in the Valley of the Kings. One product resulting from the contemporary frenzy of the news press was the story of King Tut's curse, which has since been retold many times. Most versions have Howard Carter finding a clay tablet in the Antechamber of the tomb. A few days after cataloguing it, the tale goes, Alan Gardiner deciphered the hieroglyphics. The tablet read:

Death will slay with his wings whoever disturbs the peace of the pharaoh.

Both Carter and Gardiner regarded the curse as nonsense, we are told, but lest the find scare away the local workers, all mention of the tablet was wiped from the record. The tablet itself disappeared, of course, never having been photographed or sketched.Other versions of the curse story exist.
One has the text on the door of the second golden shrine:

They who enter this sacred tomb shall swift be visited by wings of death.

Another has the curse inscribed on a stone, which Carter later buries:Let the hand raised against my form be withered! Let them be destroyed who attack my name, my foundation, my effigies, the images like unto me!Yet another has the curse written on the mud base of a candle set upon the Anubis shrine:

It is I who hinder the sand from choking the secret chamber. I am the protection for the deceased and I will kill all those who cross this threshold into the sacred precincts of the Royal King who lives forever.

The effectiveness of any curse associated with Tut's tomb can be gauged by its results within the following decade:

Of the 26 people present at the opening of the tomb, 6 had died.
Of the 22 people present at the opening of the sarcophagus, 2 had died.
Of the 10 people present at the unwrapping of Tut's mummy, none had died.
Carter died in 1939 at age 64, Harry Burton died in 1940 at age 60, and Sir Alan Gardiner died

===================================================
Whether true or false, you decide. My say on this is that these are all crap. But one thing for sure, when I die... I would definitely inscribe these words onto my coffin's door

The curse of Jeremy Chan

All hail the king Jeremy. Whoever disturbs the king's beauty nap shall be engulfed in faecal matter by next dawn. Repeat offenders shall be turned into peanuts on the spot. This I am sure.

Awake in the infinite cold
Thursday, May 12, 2005

Here's something short:
Sometimes different events take place in our lives and somehow we can't give an explaination to each.
I've definitely have faced many ups and downs in this life... sometimes I cry, sometimes I smile, sometimes I laugh it off.. but through each situation, it either make or break me... well, I hope it's the former.

I dyed my hair brown.. I'm not sure what kind of brown it is but I'm hella liking it. haha.. it can only be seen under the light. I didn't want it too obvious yet I didn't want it to be too not-obvious, you get the picture.

Don't ask me what happened between me and him because I don't know. Come to think of it, I don't even know how it started. Well, to me... I feel that it's not that bad a thing after all... yeah. I still do carry some sort of hate for the other person... give me some time.. it will be resolved.

Let's Read.
Tuesday, May 10, 2005

Reading, an essential.

I went to the huge Kinokuniya bookstore located at Takashimaya this very day to get the Nicholas Sparks' novel 'A Walk To Remember' which I reserved through the internet the night before.
Lucky thing I reserved the book because the 2002 paperback I got happened to be the last in the stock.
It's been very long time since I read a novel.. hahaa... say around 2 years? or maybe lesser? I'm most probably getting the other books by this author... I saw quite a few- the notebook, message in the bottle etc.

Again, I heard that these books were able to tug some heart strings just like the one I've got.

I bet my new book's gonna be quite a read. Love it.

A Walk To Remember
View trailer

I downloaded the movie A Walk To Remember and watched it over the weekend.
It's really very nice film, depicting first love and it's innocence....
of the time when the world was a little bit more sweeter..
definitely managed to pull some heart strings of mine...

She didn't belong.
She was misunderstood.
And she would change him forever...

Each Spring in the little port town of Beaufort, North Carolina, when the wind smells of pine and salt and the sea, Landon Carter remembers his senior year at Beaufort High and Jamie Sullivan, the girl who changed his life.

Jamie was the last person Landon was likely to fall for. Serious and conservative, she was as far from cool as she could possibly be, and didn’t care. The daughter of the town’s Baptist minister, Jamie was not afraid of letting people know that her faith was the most important part of her life, even if it cost her some friends. Landon hung with the in-crowd -- an aimless, moody, reckless guy who breezed through school on looks and bravado. He had no plans, no future and no faith in himself.

One night a prank that he and his buddies set up goes terribly wrong and lands a kid in the hospital. As punishment, Landon must tutor a young student at a poor school and participate in the Drama Club’s Spring play two activities the principal hopes will teach him some humility. They also happen to throw him into close contact with Jamie. Clearly in over his head, Landon is forced to ask her for help.

Soon, against his own expectations, Landon finds himself falling in love with this outwardly plain girl who possesses a passion for life he never imagined possible. But it isn’t easy. For reasons of her own, Jamie does everything she can to run away from romance until it becomes impossible to deny.
Being together will test everything that they believe in. Most of all, it will test the power of love and faith to transform a life into something worth living.

Only Hope

There's a song that's inside of my soul
It's the one that I've tried to write over and over again
I'm awake in the infinite cold
But You sing to me over and over and over again

So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands
And pray to be only Yours
I pray to be only Yours
I know now You're my only hope
Sing to me the song of the starsof your galaxy dancing and laughing and laughing again
When it feels like my dreams are so far
Sing to me of the plans that you havefor me over again
So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands
And pray to be only Yours
I pray to be only Yours
I know now You're my only hope
I give You my destiny
I'm giving You all of me
I want Your symphony
Singing in all that I am

At the top of my lungs
I'm giving it back
So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands
And pray to be only Yours
I pray to be only Yours
I pray to be only yours
I know now You're my only hope

House of wax
(two thumbs up!)

I caught the movie House of Wax (NC-16) today at the yishun cinema-alone.
haha.. this was the first time in my whole lifetime I've ever caught a movie alone and a scary one for that fact, that's quite a start.

Wow.. it was a hell of a ride. The movie scared the wits out of me. Oh man, paris hilton's head was stabbed right through by a sharp pole, one of the guy's mouth was ripped off revealing the teeth....and a guy's head was decapitated (didn't managed to see the head, only the neck)...alright, enough of the contents, I don't wanna be a spoiler.

You should catch it too... it's worth the buck. Alone? well, give it a second thought.

A road trip to the biggest college football championship of the year takes a turn for the worse for Carly (ELISHA CUTHBERT), Paige (PARIS HILTON) and their friends when they decide to camp out for the night before heading to the game. A confrontation with a mysterious trucker at the camp site leaves everyone unsettled, and Carly has her hands full trying to keep the peace between her boyfriend Wade (JARED PADALECKI) and her hot-headed brother Nick (CHAD MICHAEL MURRAY). They wake up the next morning to find that their car has been deliberately tampered with. At the risk of being stranded, they accept a local's invitation for a ride into Ambrose, the only town for miles. Once there, they are drawn to Ambrose's main attraction-Trudy's House of Wax, which is filled with remarkably life-like wax sculptures. But as they soon discover, there is a shocking reason the exhibits look so real. As the friends uncover the town's dark secrets, they are stalked by a demented killer and find themselves in a bloody battle for survival. The group must find a way out of Ambrose-or become permanent additions to the HOUSE OF WAX.

One of my rave and rantings:

I watched the channel 8 serial 'beautiful illusions' two days back.
Oh my goodness, the characters Joeann and Yixin (Fann wong's dual role) were actually the same person! The plot went something like this... there were two ladies who carried striking resemblance to each other even to point of how they held their pen. The two brothers, who apparently was the boyfriend to each character (Joeann and Yi xin) had so much difficulty bringing the two together. Either one would just disappear when one appears.
And the conclusion? They were actually the same person! Yi xin had split personality and Joeann was her alter ego. oh man, even though i knew this long ago, it somehow sent shudders down my spine. spooky.

Got out of bed early this morning and rushed to the computer because the semestral results were gonna be out today.
And there, the browser windows opened up one by one in front of my face.. finally it reached the results slip.
I stared blankly at the screen for a while. I passed everything but there wasn't an Aon that list.
That really left me in a sigh. Well, I can't expect much if my attendance for last semester was on the downward scale. haha..
I'll work harder for the next semester. Get hold of my As. haha..
the consolation prize for now: I don't need to take any supplementary papers. Now that's a sigh of relief and a twist of fate for me :)

I bought Kelly Clarkson's 'Breakaway' album this afternoon.
I feel that this is one of those albums which carries vocals worth of every scintilla bit of cent I fished out.
It's great! Usually I dread buying albums because for my many years' experiences of doing so, I will always find myself in this situation... Only 2 or 3 songs in the album appeals and the rest are just monotonous tracks.. but for Kelly's album, it's totally different. haha.. I love it. It's been a long long long long long time since i bought my last album..

haha.. I'm just a sucker for these high-pitched screaming female singers.. and the irony: it's soothing to the ears.. haha

Go get the album, you'll understand what I'm driving at.

Let me recall the events that took place today..

Pastor preached a sermon about how God wants us to prosper and not be poor.. who says a Christian must be as poor as a church mouse? that's what the world perceive and there isn't a scintilla bit of truth in there.
haha.. well, building fund is here! We're gonna build the House!

I was in a worship team meeting that took place after church.. it's really impacting. I simple love all these meetings because I can look forward to being impacted one way or the other.

I stepped out of the room after the meeting only to find that the church is almost empty.. oh, then I remembered... church closes at 8pm nowadays... well, this is the only method to chase everyone who is taking examinations home to study cos they love church sooo much. haha..

feeling hungry, I was searching for people for people to have dinner with... dropped Winson, who was at monstercue with Jevon, Jonas, Noel and Joel (winson's friend), a call asking him to have dinner with me.

haha.. it wasn't long before i met the bunch at the meridian foodcourt.. and what a bummer! the first few comments the whole bunch gave was 'Hey, your hair looked weird.. you look like botak' ...nah, I don't blame them..Oh my goodness, hahahaa... it definitely has got to because of the large amount of gel i spunked onto my head before leaving my home in a hurry that morning... I spent a long time in the foodcourt's toilet trying to wash away the gel.. haha

All of us left the place around 830... and I decided to meet Dexter who arrived from nowhere, Zhixiang and Noel at PS since they were the ones who could stay late. What we did there? We waited for Zhixiang to have his dinner at LJS. Also with us were alvyn, Joyce and claudia who were having their dinner.

The CHS group and me popped by Noel's house to slack... well , it's a public holiday tomorrow, so don't be too hard on us. =p
11.15pm, time to go. hahaha... all of us including Noel (he wanted to send us out) walked down the whole stretch of paveway before reaching the 855 bus stop where we met fifi..don't ask me how fifi got into the picture because I'm blur myself. hahaa..

on the bus, I almost slipped into a slumber when the group gestured me to get down at the bus stop near the prata house to have prata! silly thing, i followed them-half dazed..
After 5 seconds, it dawned upon me that the bus i was on was one of my last bus home! ahhhh! i only could watch the bus go further and further... down that lonely road. awww... nevermind, eat first, worry later... hahahH! kids, don't tell anyone that you picked this up from me! haha

fifi didn't stay for long though because her actual destination was supposed to be her friend's house for some party thing i think.. I'm not sure on that one. That left the rest of us sitting in that prata house eating and chatting.

We left as soon as we finished our pratas (yummy) fearing that we might not be able to get a ride home during that hour.
Dexter and me were waiting at the 855 bus stop, hoping to catch a glimpse of the bright yellow lights from the bus... ahhh... there were many other buses, many taxis but NO '855'! but not to worry, dexter's brother who was in vicinity came to our rescue... reached home not long after in a car.

haha... and there you have it, you've just read about every single intricate detail (almost) of my sunday. =)
goodnight.
